Opening .adp's created in AccessXP in Access 2003 is very slow

Hi

I have an Access database project (adp) that is created on an Access XP machine in Access 2000 file format. When I move this adp to an Access 2003 machine it opens nicely, but after 3-5 seconds the CPU usage climbs to 100%. I guess it is because the p-code is recompiled. The problem is that Access stops responding for a very long time (30+ minutes). Eventually it returns control to the user and the database works nicely

Can anyone explain why it takes so unacceptable long time to recompile
