opening an excel file accross a network.

I'm trying to open an Excel file across a small network, however when
I try to open it from another computer I get the message...

"filename.xls cannot be accessed, The file may be read-only or you may
be trying to access a read only location. Or the server the document
is stored on may not be responding."

As far as I can see, the file is not set as read only, any ideas?

Although the file permissions may be read/write it's possible the user
does not have complete access to that directory. Check the permissions
up and down the line.
