Opening an Exel worksheet from a Word VBA MAcro

Hi - I have the name of an Excel spreadsheet stored as a variable in my Word VBA macro. I have a button on my toolbar which runs my macro. On pressing the button, I want to open both Excel and the specific worksheet (as if I doubleclicked on the icon in Explorer say or from the Desktop).
The only Help I can find is to do with linking, etc which I don't want to do. Any suggestions???!!!! Many thanks.
