opening an InfoPath form from another InfoPath form

I want to create an InfoPath form that has buttons that will open other
InfoPath forms that I have created. I know there is the 'rules' for
buttons and actions that you can associate with the rules "open a new
form to fill out" but when I put in the form name that I want to open
or put in the address for the form library on SharePoint it blows up. I
am using SP1 and Sharepoint 2003.

Nick:

The address to the form library should be of the following format:
http://<server>/sites/<SiteName>/<FormLibraryName>/Forms/template.xsn
and then what you're doing *should* work.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, you may want to provide more info on what
precisely happens when it "blows up". Are you getting an error message?

Hi Michelle,
Yes I get error messages. The first 2 say that infopath could not open
the form and the next gives me the following details
InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form.
InfoPath cannot open the form. To fix this problem, contact your system
administrator.
Form template:
http://isportal/sites/testsite/Forms/Company Department Desktop Template Assigner/Forms/template
The following form template for the form cannot be found:
http://isportal/sites/testsite/Forms/Company Department Desktop Template Assigner/Forms/template
THe form does open directly but when called by the button. Any ideas?

Hi Nick,

I tried this using a form on my local SharePoint site:

1. I created a new form.
2. Added a button.
3. Double clicked on button and clicked rules.
4. Clicked Add
5. Selected Open a New Form to Fill Out
6. Typed in http://localhost/.../Forms/template.xsn
7. Clicked OK to close open dialogs.
8. Previewed form.
9. Clicked on button.

And, it worked. Did you specify the complete path to the template.xsn in
your SharePoint form library's Forms directory?

did you type in the full file extension ".xsn" after the template?
