I have been editing .aspx and .ascx page just fine in the past but just
today I've started having problems opening .aspx and .ascx files using
FrontPage2000. In the past when I double clicked on a file in the folder
list while working on a site "live" it would pop up a menu that gave you 3
or 4 options of how to open the file. Now it just momentarily says
"converting to RTF" and then opens the file under the name newpage1.htm so
if I double click the default.aspx page it will say converting to RTF and
then open it as newpage1.htm. It also messes up the code adding a BUNCH of
<p> tags among other things.

I've tried removing the association between .aspx and .ascx and frontpage
and then re-applying it but still the same thing.

The only thing I've done since it was working correctly is install MS
Outlook. Any ideas how to get this back correctly.

Thanks for the info. Using Regmon tool I traced it down to the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text Converters

I renamed it to Text Converters_old and that solved it.
However I notice that that folder won't recreate itself so I'm sure I will
run into another problem somewhere. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Randall,

I'm not sure. I would try to reproduce your problem, but I don't want to
break my machine! :)

:) I don't blame you. Thanks for the help though!!! I'm going to leave it
like this until I see another problem pop up.
