Opening attachments in Outlook 2007

One of our computers is having a problem opening .pdf attachments. It
automatically opens it in Word. We removed Google Desktop. We confirmed the
proper settings in Windows for opening .pdf documents and we are still having
the same problem. If you try to preview, it automatically opens in Word, if
you double-click the attachment it opens in Word and if you right click and
select Save As, it saves the actual email instead. Thanks for any help.

And what if you drag and drop the attachment to the desktop and then double
click on it?

F.H., We can drag it to the desktop and open it there and it works, but we'd
like to avoid that extra step, if possible. Diane, if we save straight from
email and open from windows, it saves the actual email instead of the
attachment. We'd like to be able to double click on it and save that way, as
usually the file names don't really match and we don't really know what it is
until we can look at it. Thanks.

I understand the desire to open it directly but FH and I are trying to
figure out if the file associations are correct as outlook uses the file
associations in windows. They seem to be correct.

If you select the attachment in the reading pane and right click, save as,
it saves the message? And File, Save attachments saves the message? Both
should save the attachment.

Have you emptied the securetemp folder?
