Opening Attachments

I have a client machine running Win 2k with Outlook XP.
When she opens e-mail not a problem. However, if the e-
mail has an attachment, JPEG, Word, whatever, it takes
several minutes for the e-mail to open. What would cause
Outlook not to open e-mails with attachments?
