Opening attachments

I would like to know how to disable the feature that pops up when I click on
an attachment to an email. It asks if I want to open or save and I have to
click one. There is a check box in the block that says "always ask before
opening this type of file" but it is grayed out and I can not change its
status. I had done this on another computer but I cannot remember how I did
it.

I would appreciate enlightenment

Version of Outlook and Windows? Are only certain attachment types affected
or all? How are you opening the attachment, from the preview pane or opened
message?

Outlook 2007 and running Vista. It applies to all attachments whether opened
in preview or opened message.
