opening design view in locked form

Andrina

I have a form designed by someone who was here before me
and is gone now. The form was locked and the menu bar
altered to make it "idiot proof" but now we need to modify
the form and don't know how to get it to open in design
view to make the modifications. We need to modify the
form and some of the tables associated with it. Help?

Andrina,

Does your db file have an .mdb or .mde extension?

If it's an .mde there is nothing you can do on it to get to the form design
(or report design, macro design or code for that matter). You will need to
get the original .mdb it was made from, and work on that one.

If it's an .mdb, try holding down the Shift key while you open the database;
with a bit of luck (that is to say, if the Shift by-pass key is not locked
through code), you will get your full menus and toolbars, while no startup
form will open automatically, nor any startup code will run.
