Opening documents in one window

I'm using Word 2007 and I'm trying to write a macro for it. I thought
i had this macro working, but sometimes it works and sometimes it
doesn't and I can't figure out why.

I have a document that is processed and creates two text files. I want
to be able to open both of the text files into Word, then arrange the
original document and the two text files on the screen in one Word
Window. I would like the original document to take up the left half of
the screen, and the other two take up the right with one being in the
upper right and the other in the lower right.

Sometimes this works perfectly, but then sometimes it doesn't. When it
doesn't it's because the two text documents want to open in a separate
Word Window, meaning the original document is in one Word Window then
the other two text files are in another. I can't quite figure out why
this sometimes happens. I have the "show all windows in taskbar"
unclicked.

I'm hoping, if I wrote the above clearly, this might be a know issue
with an easy solution.

Thanks.

Having asked the question, I feel I should share the answer that I
seemed to have found. The answer makes no sense to me, but it works.
The problem seems to be how I start the original document, the one
used to generate the other two document. I start it with the menu I
set up in OneNotes, then I get the problem I described above. But if I
open the document from File Explorer then the macro works fine. I
tried this with several documents with different Word formats and if I
open the document with a link in OneNote my macro does not work.
Strangely, the macro will work find if the document is opened with a
shortcut from the desktop.

In fact, all my Word documents opened from OneNote insist on having
their own window. But if I open those documents from File Explorer,
they share the window. Is it possible to get OneNote to share?
