This is very likely a problem with a corrupt Normal template, but follow
the sequence here:

Hey Derek:

That's a classic case of a corrupted Normal template. The file is called
"Normal" (no extension) and it's in your Microsoft User Data folder in your
Documents folder. Quit Word and re-name it (to some other name, doesn't
matter what...). Your problem should be resolved the next time you restart
Word.

Now, I expect that you did not intend to be rude, but on the Internet,
typing all in upper-case is the equivalent of shouting, and most folk find
it very offensive. Please do not do that.

Since the Word help you are reading on the Mac is actually the same help you
would read on the PC, I am surprised that it suddenly turns into "less than
useless". Chances are, you have not yet adopted "Search" within the Help as
the primary method of finding things. If you do that, you will have a lot
greater success.

Hope this helps

I would also guess so - the normal template. This is not Mac-specific -This
can happen on PC too. So please do not blame the Mac. I can imagine how
annoying is solving different problems where you are in the middle of other
work even more important.

Don't let thing to annoy you - come here instead - You are welcome to post
any issue in here, here is many guys willing to help in 99 % they will find
any workaround.
