I need to open a Excel spreadsheet and do not have Excel.
Can Word 2000 or works 7.0 convert the file to read and
manipulate?

Thanks,
Fred

Nope - MS has a free viewer, but if you need to edit, then you have no
choice but to purchase Excel - Works spreadsheet cannot read Excel files,
nor can Word.

Yes and no. You can open it in word, but if you save any
changes, it you will convert the file to a Word Document
or something other than an Excel docuemnt depending on
what you choose.

To view the Excel file, open word, then go to "File, Open"
nd find the directory where your Excel document is.
Change the "Files of type" to "All Files and then you can
select and open your Excel Document in Word.

I'm not sure how works 7.0 will treat the file. Good Luck.
