Opening Excel

hi,

i've got a really strange problem. every time i try to
open excel it trys to open excel.exe within excel. i
tried re-installing but this still didn't help.

anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this?

Do a file search for excel.exe

Do you have more than one copy? What directories are they in?

It kind of sounds like you're using the alternate startup folder:

Tools|options|General tab
"at startup, open all files in:" <xl2002 wording>
"Alternate Startup File location" <before xl2002 wording>

Erase the entry in that box.
