I'm afraid your document's pooched!
In Word, read the Help topic " Recover the text from a damaged document" and
try that.
If that doesn't work, see if you can find someone with a copy of PC Word
2000. That might be able to open your document.
Unfortunately, PC Word 2003 is not as rugged as Mac Word 2004 when dealing
with damaged documents, so if Word 2004 can't open it, neither will the
latest PC version.
Alternatively, you will probably find that the latest version of Sun
OpenOffice will get it open for you.

I am trying to open exisitng word doc, however when i try to do this
word freezes and the rainbow cloured circle just keeps spin and nothing
happens. It seems I can open a new document ok.
Can anyone assits
