Opening file in word get error Printer has not yet responded

P

Pierce Byrne

I'm running Office 2003 on Windows 200. Sometimes i open
a word document and i get the following message:

The printer has not yet responded but Microsoft Office
program may be able to proceed without printer
information. Do you want to continue to wait for the
printer "Yes/No".

Why is this alert come up when i have not tried to print
before opening the document etc.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

Word ordinarily needs to interrogate the printer driver in order to format
your document. If your default printer is on a network and you are not
connected to the network (or if you have no default printer installed), you
will get this message. If you are using a network printer, you need to
install the driver locally.
