opening HTML and see tags

Hi John,

It depends on the version of Word you're using and which features are installed, but a basic approach is that if you turn on the
Confirm Conversion at Open setting

(Tools=>Options=>General through Word 2003)
(Office Button=>Word Options=>Advanced=>General in Word 2007)

then open the file from Word if you choose 'plain text' as the file type in the dialog that pops up you'll get the HTML source.

If you're working on a Word document you can use Web Page Preview and in your browser choose View=>Source.

Is there a way to open an HTML file and see the tags? >>

Open in a text editor
or
Run the Word script editor (ALT+Shift+F11) and open the HTML file. You can
switch the view between design and html.
