Opening ics attachments in Entourage/saving them into my calendar

S

S. Rudyard Parker

Hello,

I regularly receive ics attachments for appointments I schedule in WebEx. I
can double click on the file, and it opens up fine in Entourage.

The questions is, how do I get it into my calendar? Nothing seems to work.
Making a change to it, then saving it, doesn't work. I just cannot seem to
get the appointments into my calendar.

Thanks

Drag the attachment to the Entourage icon in the Dock (or in the Finder).
You might have to first drag it to your desktop, then the .ics file onto the
Entourage icon, but shouldn't have to. What version of Entourage do you
have? If I remember correctly, this was improved in v11.2.4 (or maybe 11.2)
so that you can double-click instead of dragging. Use Help/Check for Updates
to update to 11.2.4 and then 11.2.5.

Are you sure you're checking the right calendar? If you happen to have an
exchange account, then you have more than one calendar. If Exchange is your
default mail account in Tools/Accounts/Mail, then the event will get made in
your primary Exchange calendar. If your default account is POP or IMAP it
will get made in the calendar "On my Computer".

I am running 11.2.5.

Okay, dragging the .ics file over the Entourage icon indeed allowed me to
save the appointment onto my calendar. But something strange happens. It
appears for the wrong date and the wrong time.

It appears as if Entourage reads the day wrong, but also the time. Instead
of putting the appointment for Sep. 7 starting at 11:00 am and ending at
12:00 pm, it puts it for Sep. 9, starting at 4:12 pm. etc.

When I use Outlook on my Windows machine it all works fine.

Here are the details of the content of the .ics attachment (it is also
attached):
