Opening infopath 07 docs in browser

Madhur

Hello

I want to open an infopath form in browser without attaching it as a
template to document library.

I have uploaded it in Central Administration->Configure Infopath
Services->Manage form templates.

After successfully uploading it, I dont have idea how to open it in browser,
since I dont get any URL.

Any Ideas?

Hi,

You definetely need to Publish to a Form Library to get a URL.
If you publish to a Folder and would like to access it in web browser then
the systems which are accessing should have Infopath Installed in them, where
the purpose of Forms Server fails.

I hope I got your point correctly.

Hi Kalyan

My problem is , I have to traverse to form library to open the infopath
document.
Is there a way to directly open the infopath form by directly typing
the URL in browser.

I dont have the client installed.. Cant Forms Server do this?

Madhur Ahuja.

Hi Madhur,

In Infopath 2007 You dont have to go to Sharepoint library to open the IP
Form once it is published. This is what Forms Server Does exactly, It allows
to open the Forms from the Web browser once they are Published to the
Sharepoint. This is a new feature in Infopath 2007 where you can edit and
view the forms from the webbrowser and the best part is you can do this from
machines where you dont have Infopath installed.

Hi Kalyan

But this is what exactly is my question. How to open the IP form
directly once I publish it to sharepoint library. I dont have the URL
of form. If I put the URL of sharepoint *libray/Infopathfile.xsn* in
address bar of browser , It asks me to download the file ??

However If I open it using the *New document* of Sharepoint library, it
opens up correctly.

Thanks

Hi Madhur

I published a Form to a form library "Kalyan" on Sharepoint Site
"http://system18/SiteDirectory" . So this is the URL you have to put in the
Webbrowser "http://system18/SiteDirectory/Kalyan/forms/template.xsn"
It doesnt ask you to download any file and opens the form directly. Be sure
that you should also include forms after the Form library name and then
template.xsn in the URL.

One Important point is you should check the check box Enable this form to be
filled out by using a browser while publishing this form.

Hope this helps you .

Hi Kalyan,

I installed the Forms Server from sratch. I found out that the check box you
mentioned here was dimmed. I make sure that the form is browser compatible by
using the validation tool. Then what's wrong with my server configuration?
