opening more than 1 spreadsheet at a time

Hi all...
My installation of Excel 2002 will not open a 2nd spreadsheet unless I use
File/Open. Double clicking or right-click /Open will not open the file;
nothing happens at all.
Rather annoying!
Any ideas?
