I've found that if I modify the folder options for .xlsx file types by adding
"%1" to the end of the Application used to perform action: string, I can
open Excel files stored on my drive in separate instances (great for dual
monitors). However, If I double click on multiple files in a SharePoint 2007
doc folder they will all open in the same instance. If I try to
open them by left click and selecting “Edit in Microsoft Office Excel†it
opens the 1st
file OK but if I try to open another Excel file while the 1st is open I get
the message "Office Open XML file xyz.xlsx cannot be opened because there are
problems with the contents. The more details button tells me that the file
is
“corrupt and cannot be opened†which is an error message from Word. The
file is not corrupt and can be opend subsequently. Any suggestions greatly
appreciated?
