Opening New Instance

For example, say I have an instance of word open, and it's minimized and I'm
working on something else.

When I open a new instance of Word [usually by Start > Run > WinWord],
instead of the new instance of Word popping up for me to go to work on, the
instance that was already open pops up. This makes me have to then go click
on the new instance before being able to work on it.

Is there a way to make is so that the new instance will pop up so that I can
go straight to the clean page?

Any help would be very much appreciated.
