OPENING OF MULTIPLE WORKBOOKS WHILE OPENING EXCEL

Till recently, my Office 2003 was working nice. But few days before,
something went wrong and from that time onwards, whenever I open existing
workbook, three workbooks, names of which are book1.xls, xlstart.xls and the
file which I intend to open.

Can anybody tell me what went wrong, since I have tried unregistering,
reregistering excel, uninstalling office 2003 & reinstalling the same, but
could not resolve the issue.

Remove anything you find in XLSTART folder.

And remove any path you may have in Tools>Options>General

"At Startup open all files in:"

Hi Gord,

thanks for responding. I had already searched for that folder through
search option, but i could not get the same. I also tried to find path by
clicking on "save as" when xlstart.xls is open, but my computer does not
contain (or may be not showing) the said folder.

what next ??

XLSTART is usually located here......

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

In 2007 you can delete or change change alternate startup path
here..........

Button>Excel Options>Advanced>General.
