Opening Office 2000 documents with Windows XP or vice versa

Barbara

I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows XP
installed. Will I have problems opening my old files
with XP? Will I have problems opening files sent to me
written with Office 2000? I am enrolled in an on line
course for the fall and I need to be sure that the
assignments I receive and return are compatible. If it
would best for me to buy and install Office 2000, or
whatever I need to, I can do that.
Thanks.

Windows XP is an operating system. It cannot open Office files.

To open Office files, you would need to have an Office Suite, probably 2000
or XP. Depending on the version that your on-line course is running, XP or
2000 both should work. (Lots of folks use 2000 moreso than XP)
