Opening office 2003 attachments from msn mail in an office 2007 pc

When i open many word and excel files that come to me via email as office
97-2003 files, they wont't open. They simply say file download and continue
to show the moving folder but the file never opens. Please help..
frustrating when friends / work send attachements to my home e-mail.

not using outlook for e-mail but just a regular msn account.

I am having those issues with both word and excell files. thanks for asking
and welcome any advise.

Try saving the file first. R-click and Save As. Also you could try
clearing your "Temporary Internet Files" folder and see if that resolve
the issue of "download/open"

I saw that suggestion someonewhere else ) but no luck still.

One you have saved the file to your computer hard drive then what do you do?

unfortunately I have tried saving first and also cleaned out my temp file (

that option it says internet explorer cannot download.

if i click on the attachment it gives me the option to open or save and when
i choose either one it just gives me the flying folder over and over...
