Hello all!

I am considering buying a MAC and would really like to know if it is possible to open my Office 2003 docuemnets (mainly word, excel and powerpoint) with little or no trouble. When speaking to the salespeople at the MAC store, I was not convinced that this can be done so easily.

Thank you in advance!

Hello all!

I am considering buying a MAC and would really like to know if it is possible
to open my Office 2003 docuemnets (mainly word, excel and powerpoint) with
little or no trouble. When speaking to the salespeople at the MAC store, I
was not convinced that this can be done so easily.

It is entirely possible. I open files created in Office 2003/2007 all
the time with very rare issues.

That said - there are some differences. Office 2008 doesn't include VBA
so macros won't work (though they'll be retained). If you need macros,
Office2004 will run *most* Office2003 macros.

Files containing embedded graphics may have occasional problems
depending on the graphic format.

Formatting that depends on fonts may cause display differences - the
font metrics aren't identical, though using standard Microsoft fonts
minimizes the problem (and to be fair, the same thing happens with
different print drivers between Windows installations).

Powerpoint has the most differences

BTW- "MAC" is an abbreviation for "Media Access Control", whereas "Mac"
is the conventional nickname for Macintosh.
