Opening Office files thru My Computer

When I locate an excel or word file thru My Computer and
double click on it it hangs and will not open.

Only way in is thru starting the porgram and finding the
file thru File, Open.

This problem has only arisen over the last 4 weeks.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi David,

It sounds like the file associations need to be recreated. Go to
Start/Run and run the following commands:

winword /r
excel /regserver

Note the space before the forward slash.
