Opening old files

Please help! I have important papers written in MSWord in 1987-1989 and
now they are not even recognized by Word 2001 on my MAC, OS 9+. How can
I get into or convert them?

If you have Mac OS X, you can purchase MacLinkPlus Deluxe. It handles
conversion from Word formats, back to Word 4. But it doesn't support Mac
OS 9.

Hey, thanks. I have a copy of X. What if I install it, get MacLink,
convert the docs, then go back to OS9? You think that would be simple?

Not so. Previous versions are still available:

By the way, Jacki, if you still have access to a computer that will open
those old files, you could save them out in RTF format. Although you may
lose some formatting, at least you'd be able to open them in Word 2001
without paying for MacLinkPlus.

As Beth pointed out this is not necessary--but it would *not* be simple.
