Opening or saving in Excel 2003 gives VB Compile Error

Upon starting Excel 2003, trying to open a file, or trying to save a file, I
keep getting a Visual Basic Compile Error message. Usually it says "can't
find project of library". I can close VB and work the spreadsheet, but if I
try to save, again I get the VB error. Any suggestions?

It is very likely an add-in is bothering you. Open Tools, Add-ins and note
which are checked. Uncheck one-by-one (closing the dialog afterwards) and try
to save to see if the problem goes away, Then you'll know which one is the
culprit.

If that doesn't help:

Find your XLSTART folder (On Windows XP it may be a path like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
Move all files out of it;
Open them one by one (in Excel) and find the one with the error;
Move the others back.
Repeat the above for the folder listed in Tools, Options, General, "Alternate
Startup file location" or "At startup, open all Files in:" (The text depends on
your version of Excel).
