Try two things:
1) Quit word. Locate the *Normal* Template. simplest method. from finder
do get Info. there should be but one copy but if another application use
a file with same name leave it alone. Anyway move the one associated
with word, to Trash just highlight in list and choose file menu and
choose move to trash. now get out of get info and try to open document.
then you can work on document.
2) try opening the document with Text Edit. or Tex Edit its my
understanding both will open word documents.
If the document opens immediately save a copy as a RTF format document.
the open this copy in word. You may have to reformat your document but
you will have salvaged the document.
Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
I can open MS Word from my desktop but recently I have not been able to open the Word documents that I have previously created. A very wide blank page with horizontal lines on it opens instead. Today even this page will not open and I just get the pinwheel. I use Force Quit, start again and the problem continues.
