Opening Project file gives "Paste Operation cannot be completed" e

Hello,

One of my users has a Project document that she amended and resaved to a
different filename.

On trying to open the new file she recieveds the following error :-
---
The paste operation cannot be completed
The insert or paste operation cannot be completed because the total number
of rows would exceed the limit of 1,048,000 rows in a project
Insert fewer rows....etc
---

Any help on what this could be caused by, and how I can get this file to
open would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hello Deus DNE,

It sounds as though her project file is badly corrupted. As she
can't open the file the best I can suggest is to attempt to insert
the damaged file into a new one. Create a new Project file then
choose Insert > Project. Make sure the option "link to project" is
disabled (unchecked).

If this fails, I don't know of any other method other than reverting
to the backup and hoping the backup is okay.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I know this probably hard, but it might be worth exploring "why" the
file got corrupted, and if warranted, having older versions to backup
to. How do people use the file? Is it emailed around to a lot of
people? Different versions of Project reading/saving the file by many
peope? Is a subproject part of master? Shared resources involved?
Something is "unusual" about your setup and/or use.

Hi Deus,

You're welcome for the suggestion and thanks for the feedback.

I recommend making a backup of the original file and trying the
fixes for corruption on the backup. As Rod suggests there are a
number of things that can cause corruption and trying to repair now
will likely be worth your time and effort.
