Opening Project questions

I have project server setup and project database connected to it. When i open
/ checkout the file, can someone else also make changes to the database?

We used to be able to do this in another application. We have two schedulers
that use the same project file. They both are responsible for certain areas
of file. We would like for both to be able to modify at same time. What is
best method for doing this. In our other application, they had a master
schedule and from the master they had their own schedules that would update
the master. Is this possilbe?

If you open a project Read/Write, no one else is allowed to open the project
Read/Write and make changes to it. If you and I each have a project that is
included in a master project, you and I can each open our own projects and
make changes to them. If someone opens the master project while we have our
subprojects open, then they will be forced to open the subprojects
Read-Only. Hope this helps.

Dale, this was very helpful so far...
How do i go about setting up Master Project and each of my employee's having
a subproject to the master. This sounds just like what we had before but i'm
not familiar with it. I can update my file, you update yours and then they
both would update the master.

Create the master project the way you did previously:

1. Open a new blank project
2. Click Insert - Project
3. Select the projects you want
4. Click the Insert button

Do know this, however: the default settings in Project Server 2003 do not
allow you to save a master project in the Project Server database. If you
absolutely must do this, your admin will need to change only the setting
that allows saving master projects. He/she should not change the setting
that allows the publishing of master projects. Hope this helps.
