Opening project

Is there a way to open a new or exsisting project in the same window i.e when
I open project and click on new or open, the project always opens in a new
window. Can it be opened in the same window? Is this an option or setting
that can be changed?

I am asking this becasue we are customizing project guide to open a template
and walk users through entering some project and custom task information.
When they open a template the customized guide is active in one window and
the project/template is opened in another window.

Any help/advice is really appreciated.

You can only do that if you merge projects, but then you would have a
problem removing all merged tasks cleanly afterwards! However, you can
change the custom guide in the template.
