opening remote calendars

E

ECRGVP

In my organisation, one of the managers mailbox folders
(calendar/inbox/contacts) are not accessible from the PC of the secretaries.
Their outlook freezes when attempting to do so..This is something to do with
the mailbox of the manager and we have attempted cleanviews command which
didnt help much..we use outlook 2000 and when we tried using outlook 2003
eveything worked normal. But, we cannot go for an upgrade as of now..Is there
anything that can be done???

does everyone use outlook 2000 or do you use mixed versions of outlook? if
you use mixed version make sure you have all the updates installed for all
versions and check for hotfixes.

BTW - if you do have a mix of outlook 2000 and 2003, I would try to find
money in the budget to upgrade everyone to 2003 or at least upgrade those
who share calendars with 2003 users.

Hi ,

We purely use outlook 2000..We tried outlook 2003 to test this issue..Do you
find any reason for why remote folder access works in outlook 2003 and not in
outlook 2000. This issue is happening for this user alone...

I would try a repair of 2000 and test it with a new profile.

We have tried all possible options. Irrespective of the desktops we tried,
the issue remains the same..This is in particluar to do something with the
mailbox with regards to outlook 2000 as things work fine with outlook 2003
and 2007

That leaves deleting the mailbox and recreating it. I'm lazy and would
consider upgrading that one computer, although outlook 2003 doesn't mix well
with outlook 2000.

Do you have all the latest patches installed?

if she creates a new profile on a different computer, does it work?
if someone else uses her computer, do they have similar problems?

You are right..Even I dont want to delete the mailbox. Upgrading to outlook
is a sure fix, but I am more interested to understand why it is not working
with outlook 2000 when outlook 2003 is just fine..

The manager by himself doesnt have any issues opening the calendars locally.
But all the sceretaries have issues in opening the manager's folder remotely
via outlook 2000 as it freezes immediately..
