Opening, saving file/note

I am soooo confused as to how OneNote works. I'm used to saving a FILE (is
that what it's called in this program) and naming the file. I also save the
file under a directory (old term...now called folder, right?).

Well, OneNote uses terms like folder and section and page and subpage. I'm
totally confused what these are.

For example, I have a template for Christmas. I would like it saved under
what I call a directory named HOLIDAY, but the file name should be called
Christmas. Within this file called Christmas I have 5 'pages ' (I think
that's what they are). The first is called TO DO, the 2nd called GIFTS, the
3rd called DRINKS, the 4th called APPETIZERS, the 5th called DESSERTS.

I just want to be able to:
--save this with a file named Christmas under a directory called Holiday so
that I can retrieve it easily
--move the 'pages' in the correct order (right now when my cursor is over
the one called GIFTS it has the number 5 before it as it is the last 'page,'
but I want to move it to the 2nd page. Can I do this?
--explain to me the difference of folder/section and how to create what I
need so that I can use the MY NOTEBOOK dropdown and find my file easily
--explain to me the differnce of page and subpage and how I might use them
for my application above

Thank you!!!!

Can I assume you're using OneNote 2003? You mention the "My Notebook"
dropdown.

OneNote uses a paper metaphor, with Pages and Sections retaining their real
world meanings inside of a single Notebook. Once something is created on a
page, it does not need to be explicitly saved in much the same way that you
never explicitly "save" when writing on a piece of paper.

This link has a good overview of the product and should answer your basic
questions. Feel free to keep asking questions.
