Opening Secured Access 2.0 db using Access 2003

I had created several secured Access 2.0 db at a former job. I had a former
co-worker e-mail these programs along with the original system.mda file. I
believe I remember the user name and password I used to create the admin user.

How can I open this db when my current PC is running Access 2003?

You can't (you may be able to import some objects). You need to convert to
an intermediate version (like 97) and then to 2003.

The first release of A2003 did not include the conversion
library for Access 2.0. You need to download that from
Microsoft (or copy it from A2K2 or A2K).

If you know the security strings from the original mda file,
you may be able to create a new mdw file. If not, you
need to create a shortcut to MSACCESS.EXE, and
use the /wrkgrp command line switch

"c:\program ... msaccess.exe" /wrkgrp "c:\system.mda"

This has been very helpfull . i believe I remember the exact srtings used to
create the Mda file so I will try that first.

Do I understand you corectly that if I have the original system.mda file and
use the wrkgrp switch you describe that I will be promted with a log in
screen?

I will try this latter today.

Thanks again for your help.

thanks!

I was able to open the database using Access 2000 using the wrkgrp switch
pointing the the original system.mda file.

It opened a log in box and i was able to remember my login and password.

Thanks again this has saved me many hours of trying to recreate this code
