Help Desk Technician

Hi,
Am not holding my breath for an answer, but here is my
problem:
I have a client who is running Office 2003 in Windows XP
with SP1 installed. He receives e-faxes in TIF format
from various people in our company. He can open these
attachments fine if he opens the message and double-clicks
the file. However, he used to be able to double-click on
the attachment from the Reading Pane. Now when he tries
to he receives an error message that says "cannot create
image file" with some note about checking the permission
on the folder he is trying to save it to. Does this issue
sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!
Aimee

Aimee,

There are so many things that could cause this, but if he is the only user
experiencing the problem the problem is something to do with his specific
configuration. So simply the solution is to bring his configuration in line
with everyone else's.

There are several right ways to get that done, but that will depend on your
company's procedures for accomplishing that. For example, my company's SOP
is to:

Reapply the service pack, if that fails, reinstall the application, if that
fails, then restore the computer to the image that we created when we issued
the machine to the employee (have employee move all his data to a network
drive first).

But you might want to try a few basic things first. Run Disk Clean up, move
his My Documents data etc. to another area of his drive and then delete his
profile and then recreate his login (which will create a new profile).

Good Luck
