opening Word 2000 document from My Documents

If I open a document from My Documents folder using office
2000 (Word), then selecting page setup or print from the
file menu causes the window to freeze.(Title bar keeps
flashing) I have to use ctrl - alt - delete to escape. I
am using XP home ed. If I launch Word and then open
document from within word there is no problem.

Hi Russell,

The problem is caused by one of two issues:

If you are using Norton then try disabling the "Office Plug-in" option
since it is known to cause dialog boxes to appear behind the
application window.
In Norton go to "Options" and then select "Miscellaneous" and disable
the Office Plug-in option.

If you are starting Word using the Quick Launch bar then this is a
known bug and it has been corrected in the Office XP SP2 patch. Here

Tried disabling NAV plug in as suggested and it worked!
