opening Word 2000 file causes kernel 32 error

R

Ruth

Running Win ME and Word 2000 - received an attachment in email and attempted
to open it as I have in the past - this caused Word to lock up the computer
with a black screen. Now, when I try to open a file in Word or open the
program itself, I get a message saying, Kernel32 has caused an error in
USER.EXE. Kernel 32 will now close - try restarting your computer.

I put the original Word CD in drive and selected the fix feature, but still
experience the same problem. What do you suggest now? Yes, I know I need a
new computer, but just need a little more time.

Thank you - Phyllis
