Opening Word at a different point

The body of your post conflicts with the subject line so doesn't make any
sense.

There are two interpretations:

1. If you want to open a document and go to the last edit point when it when
closed, open the document and use the GoBack command (Shift+F5). You can
automate this by using an AutoOpen Macro.

2. If you are opening Word and seeing a previously saved document instead of
a blank, see

: How do I change which file Word opens at when initially opening a file ?

Reading my message again I'M not surprised that it didn't make sense. It
didn't!
I'll try again. When opening Word for the first time I do get a blank sheet
and when I press open to select an existing file the default setting goes
to" my documents." As I don't use" my documents" I want it to go to "Own
data" which is on a separate partition.
Hope this makes it clear

In Word, click on Tools | Options | File Locations, and modify
the "Documents" location to point to your "own data" folder.
