opening word crashes the computer

whenever i open word (2000) it freezes the whole computer
and i have to restart it. this only started happening
recently when i was opening some word documents, and i
have no idea how to fix it. im starting school again now
and i really need it so if ANYONE can suggest ANTHING ill
love you forever thanks!

I have the same problem with Word 2000 and Windows 98 SE.
Excel and the other progroms of Office 2000 work fine but
when I try to open Word 2000, the hour glass stays on
forever. When I stop it with Ctrl/Alt/Del, the computer
sends the message: "System is low on resoures..." and
everything is dead. I even re-installed Office 2000 but
that did not fix it. The problem started very recently. I
need help also!
