After updating Windows 2000 with SR4, Word now resets
windows when opening a document. What can I do, Is this
release that is causing it or is it something else. What
can I do, I cannot open any word document at all. all
other office products work ok.

Hi Kev,

What do you mean by "Word now resets windows". Do you mean the Word
task ends unexpectedly? Or do you mean you are unable to open
previously created Word documents?

Kev and Beth-
I don't mean to barge in on this thread but I believe that
Kevin and I may be experiencing the same problem.
Whenever I try to open an existing word document, or
simply launch the program, my computer locks up. I must
use "ctrl-alt-del" in order to proceed. As soon as I issue
the ctrl-alt-delet command I get a message saying that my
system is dangerously low on resources and asking whetehr
I wish to terminate the Word program. As I have no choice
I select "yes" which either takes be to the "blue screen"
or causes furhter "hang" - necessitating a hard poweringt
off of the computer and a restart. All other Office
products work fine.

This seems to be a differnet issue than described in the
MS Product Suport Center FAQs as affecting all Office
programs and attributed to the Nimda virus?

Any help/insights appreciated.

Hi Tim,

Here is an article that covers common causes for insufficient memory
errors:

If you have already ruled out Nimda, or a variant of Nimda, then start
with the corrupt Normal.dot section.
