Opening Word documents after SP3 on Office 2003

Hi,

When i receive certain documents in word 2003-97 format and try to open them
in Office Word 2003 SP3 i get a file conversion dialog box. It doesnt
recognize the format, however that same document opens fine in Office 2007.
The file extension is doc so its not a 2007 format. Any ideas how i can fix
this? It also opens fine if i dont have SP3 for Office 2003 installed.
