Opening Word Invalid page fault

Double click on the word icon and the following appears:
Invalid page fault in module VBE6.DLL at 017f:6504...
The program won't open while clicking on the icon or on a
word doc through mydocument. But I can go through ACT 2000
and open a new letter which has word as the default word
processor and it will open word and I can use the program
with no problems.
I uninstalled the MS office 2000 shutdown the laptop and
booted back up reinstalled Office 2000 but had the same
problem.
