Opening Word

When I try to open a Word file forwarded to me from Outlook there is nothing
there and the error message "Microsfot Word has stopped working" appears.
When I just open Word, all I can do is type and backspace. NOTHING else. When
I go to close it it asks if I want to save the document and when I say "no"
"Microsfot Word has stopped working" appears again.
