OpenType reverts to Times

My nice, new Adobe OpenType font (Cronos) continually reverts to Times
every time a word is clicked on.
Saw on the Adobe site that this was supposed to be fixed, but I have
all updates and it's still happening.
Is there some pref or file I need to trash?

Hi Allen:

Did Adobe happen to mention what the issue *is*?

Word X displays this behaviour when it gets a Unicode font that contains
characters outside the Apple International Character Set.

If that's your problem, there is no good answer to it, other than to use
Format>Style to change the font in your base styles. If you define the font
in the style, when Word attempts to "revert" it reverts to the font you
actually wanted in the first place. Fonts that are applied using
Format>Font are unstable in Unicode. Fonts applied using Format>Style are a
lot better.

Cheers

I was braced for bad news. FYI, here's what I was refering to on the
Adobe site:

Microsoft Word X (Mac OS X):
Microsoft Word X may not save
OpenType OTF fonts in style definitions. If you define a style using
an OpenType font, the font defined in the style may revert to Times
when you save the style. This is fixed in the 10.1.2 and later updates
to Word X.

The link is http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/OTReadMe.html

I still have the problem after defining styles. Oh, well. Rechecking
the Adobe Store, I now see that there are Mac and PC versions of the
font as opposed to the "for all platforms" version that I purchased.
Looks like that's the problem, alright.

Thanks for responding.

Hi,

I have experienced the same probems with an Adobe Open Type font (Brioso
Pro). It doesn't seem to make any difference as to whether I use
Format>Style or Format>Font, as soon as I click on the text again it changes
back to Times.

Strangely, Excel and PowerPoint don't seem to have the same problem. Is
this a bug introduced into Word in version 10.1.4? And, if so, will we see
a fix for it?

Thanks,

Karen
