Hello Dave,
According to the spec Office Open XML Part 4, Page 621, w:first specifies a
Specifies a printer-specific code that uniquely identifies a specific
printer tray to be used to print the first page of this section in the
document; w
ther specifies a printer tray to be used for non-first page.
Therefore, <w
aperSrc w:first="2" w
ther="3"/> means that Word will use
the second printer tray to print the first page of the document, and use
the third printer tray to print other pages. These tags corresponds to the
following setting in Word application:
(quoted from
http://wordtips.vitalnews.com/Pages/T1370_Specifying_a_Paper_Tray_in_a_Macro
.html)
a. If you choose Tools | Options | Print, you can specify a Default Tray.
(You can specify the setting in Word 2007 by clicking the Office button |
Word Options | Advanced | Print group.)
b. If you choose File | Page Setup | Paper Source, you can specify which
paper tray to use for the first page and which to use for subsequent pages.
(You can specify the setting in Word 2007 by displaying the Page Layout tab
of the ribbon and then clicking the icon at the bottom-right of the Page
Setup group.)
c. If you click Properties from within the Print dialog box (Ctrl+P), you
can often (depending on your printer) rummage around and select a paper
tray.
If I misunderstood your question or if you have any other concerns, please
feel free to let me know.

professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
