Operation Failed message when entering new phone # in Contacts

There is an issue with Outlook 2000 Contacts on our PCs at
work w/ the with the newest Service pack and patches &
updates. In contacts, when you enter a new phone number
you get a message saying 'Operation Failed' however it
takes all the phone numbers. Any ideas? Thanks.
