Operation Failed Sending Email as Attachment from Word 2003

Following these steps (everything is controlled):
1. Reboot.
2. Open Microsoft Office 2003 (version 11.6568.6568 SP2).
3. File | Send To | Mail Recipient As Attachment. Hit Send. Goes fine.
4. Repeat step 3 and you will receive the following error consistently:

"Operation Failed
This error can occur if you attempt to send a Word document as an e-mail
attachment in Word and the MAPI session was closed and Word is no longer able
to connect to that MAPI session, or there is a problem with the fax
configuration.

To correct a MAPI related error: restart the MAPI e-mail program (for
example, Outlook) or save and close the document, and then restart Word after
restarting your MAPI e-mail application. Word will establish a new MAPI
session, allowing the document to be sent.

To correct a problem with the fax configuration, review the configuration
settings for your fax software and make the appropriate changes."

Problem happens consistently. If you close Word after step 3 and re-open
Word you will still get the problem. If you look in task manager, you see an
"Outlook.exe" that is running.

Seems similar to this problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289966 only we are
running Office 2003.

Happens on all of our machines whether Desktop or Laptop. We are running
Windows XP Professional V5.1 SP2.

Cheryl,

We have the exact same issues with all of our clients running 2003. We are
running windows xp sp2 and office 2003 SP2 with all patches. I've tried
reinstalling and repairing office without any luck. I've also checked all of
the knowledgebase articles and none of them work. Has anyone fixed this
issue on office 2003?

Thanks,

Dustin

Here's my deal. When I completely uninstall SpamBayes, my problem goes away.
If you completely uninstall SAVCORP90 on one machine, will the problem go
away? p.s. what is SAVCORP90?

We had the same problem: Send from Word as attachment using Outlook --
none of the above worked, but we had de-installed Outlook Express
(using Microsofts Directions, manually). When we re-installed Outlook
Express it now works. MSOE.INF and WAB.INF from the c:\Windows\INF
directory - and have the IEx install kit handy because it will want a
bunch of files.
