Optimal Display Resolution

PowerPoint "Page Setup" provides a way to specify the aspect ratio (3high x
4wide) for slides.

Is there a setting anywhere which will set the slides for an optimal display
resolution?

If an image were to be designed to exactly fill the powerpoint slide, would
that image define the display resolution?

Any good material on this subject out there?
