optimal picture size/resolution for presentations

I would suggest that the highest resolution you can use
to any advantage would be the monitor resolution that it
will be viewed at. If you set up your slide pictures at
724 x 768 and the monitor/projector you use to show it is
set to 800 x 600 you won't get the benefit of the higher
resolution in your photographs. For very good results, I
would do as Sonia recommended and create images for
import at 1024 x 768 and make sure that the monitor you
show it on is set to the same resolution. Voila.
